Next meeting of Tariff (price) Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held on December 30, 2008

Two issues were considered at the meeting pursuant to the proposals of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Tariff (price) Council passed significant resolutions to enhance application of modern information-communication technologies in the country, to boost opportunities for citizens to use information resources pursuant to the large-scaled reforms pursued under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

So, 80% sale will be applied for subscription fees on rendering service and arranging equipments of other organizations in the towers, areas and buildings pertaining to the “Teleradio” Production Union where it is impossible to install telephones by physical lines. According to the resolution tariffs applied for equipments were fixed between AZN 0,54 and AZN 53,6 (without VAT), tariffs applied for antenna systems from AZN 2 to AZN 105(without VAT). These tariffs were relevantly from AZN 2,68 to AZN 268(without VAT), from AZN 10 to AZN 525 (without VAT). New tariffs will pave the way for to save relevant expenses in the field of education.
Tariffs of digital channels to render internet services were discussed and corresponding resolution was passed at the meeting of the Council. According to the decision, tariffs of 2 Mbit/sec digital channels (ports) within the city were cut from AZN 1200 to AZN 600 (50%) for other subscribers (except budget organizations), tariffs for monthly use of these ports were cut from AZN 320 to AZN 300 (6,3%). at the same time, tariffs for subscription fee and connection of digital communication channels were reduced from AZN 240 to AZN 200, tariffs on use of 2 Mbit/sec for every complete and incomplete 50 kilometers were cut from AZN 180 to AZN 150 (16,7%). 
This resolution will lead to cut prime costs of services of internet providers, consequently to reduce tariffs of internet services minimally 15-20%. 
The resolution passed by the Tariff (price) Council will insure the schools to connect to the internet located in the areas that it is impossible to install telephones by physical lines. At the same time new tariffs will create more favorable conditions for the citizens to use information technologies.
New tariffs will take effect from January 15, 2009.
